We ask all 9th and 10th graders to participate in the High School Gospel Study (HSGS) as one part of their preparation for Confirmation. The HSGS meets in the Keller Library at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. We complete our meeting just prior to the start Mass; thus, this session lasts about one hour. During these sessions we break open the Word of God through the Gospel reading of the weekend. This is experience-based learning of the theology of the Catholic Faith.

Confirmation Preparation during the 9th grade:
We invite our 9th grade students to participate in the High School Gospel Study throughout this year. As well, we invite the 9th grade students to be a part of our Youth Liturgies. There will be three Youth Masses throughout the 2009-2010 calendar year:
• December 6, 2009 at the 10:30 AM Mass
•January 24, 2010 at the 10:30 AM Mass
•April 18, 2010 at the 10:30 AM Mass
At the end of the school year we ask those 9th graders who participated in the High School Gospel Study to show their interest in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation by participating in two (2) sessions of preparation and reflection. The required sessions are on the following dates:
Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Gibson Center
AND
Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Gibson Center
Confirmation Preparation during the 10th grade:
Students in the 10th grade are prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation; as well, any 11th or 12th graders who have not yet received the Sacrament participate with this group. This is a year of commitment for all those who intend to become Confirmed Catholics.
Requirements for Confirmation Year:
The confirmation process depends upon the candidate's presence and participation in sessions (as well as the other components). Attendance at sessions is expected as a reflection of the teen and family's commitment to the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is a sacrament that is an individual choice (to be respected if the teen chooses that NOW is not the right time to do this) and a sacrament heavily rooted in community. The community component of the Sacrament of Confirmation cannot happen when the teen is not present regularly. Please see Confirmation Requirements and High School Gospel Study/Sessions for Confirmation Dates.
