Year I & II Confirmation are mandatory to receive this Sacrament.
Confirmation I
Year I is for students in the 9th grade. This year is dedicated to serving our larger community in preparation for our role as adults in the Catholic Church.
Confirmation II
Year II is for students in the 10th grade. This year is dedicated to the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Is my child eligible for Confirmation this year?
If your teen is either in the 11th or 12th grade and has not received Confirmation and would like to, please contact Michelle.
Requirements
Sessions
• Fr. Leo participates as the Catechist (teacher) for the confirmation program;
• Teen leaders (11th and 12th grade) volunteer by leading games, prayer and small group discussions;
• Parents of confirmation candidates provide the lunch;
• Attendance at 10:30am Mass is sometimes required;
• The confirmation process depends upon the candidate's presence and participation in sessions (as well as the other four components). Attendance at sessions is expected as a reflection of the teen and family's commitment to the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is a sacrament that is an individual choice (to be respected if the teen chooses that NOW is not the right time to do this) and a sacrament heavily rooted in community. The community component of the sacrament cannot happen when the teen is not present regularly.
Service
• Teens are expected to participate in community service throughout the year;
• Opportunities will be offered by Corpus Christi throughout the year;
• If a teen is already involved in a form of service, please bring this to the attention of the confirmation leader.
Retreat
• The weekend-long retreat is not optional;
• Teen attendance at the entire retreat is expected;
• We are asking for a full commitment from the teen and their family to make this a priority;
• Teen attendance at the retreat is a requirement of the Confirmation Process and the Diocese of Oakland.
Prayer
• Participation in prayer experiences with the greater community are an important component to the Confirmation process;
• Participation in Advent Reconciliation Service is required;
• Participation in the Stations of the Cross ceremony is required.
Liturgy
• Family participation in weekly Mass is encouraged as Faith Formation is a life-long process that involves commitment.
