What is Helping Hands? The Helping Hands Program was established through the leadership of the Pastor and Pastoral Council in response to the desire of parishioners to embrace stewardship. Since April 1, 2004, the parish has set aside 2% of the regular weekend mass collections (excluding Easter and Christmas) to be granted to a community group.
Why are we doing this?
As Catholic Christians, we are called to a life of service to God and to our neighbor. We respond to this call by sharing our gifts of time, talent, and treasure in a spirit of stewardship. We are Christ's "Hands" in the world.
How does it work?
Parishioners will have an on-going opportunity nominate deserving Oakland-based community groups for consideration by the Helping Hands Program Committee. This committee will make quarterly recommendations to the Pastor.
